Five years… five years is how long I’ve been impersonating as Y/n’s wife and he doesn’t suspect anything. When I started impersonating as his wife, I had a couple of hiccups in mannerisms and what she did, but now I had time to work it out and eventually, I blended in seamlessly.
Still, I do feel bad about lying to man devoted to his wife, but I don’t know exactly what he thinks about mutants, so I’d rather be safe than sorry. He wouldn’t love me, even if he doesn’t care about me being a mutant, he’d certainly care about me killing his wife and taking over her life for these last five years.
Did I fall in love with him? Of course, he takes me out to a nice dinner whenever he could, shower me with love, gifts, and affection… he’s all that and a bag of peanuts. I just hope that one day, I can show him who I really am and he would still act the same way he does.
Sometimes, I do believe the lie I tell myself, that I’m normal and not apart of all of this anti-mutant stuff, but I then look in the mirror and remember that Y/n still doesn’t know about me, Raven Darkholme, he just knows that I’m his wife, W/n L/n. I planned to tell him today, after he gets home from work.
Speaking of which, I heard the door open following a loud groan as I turn around from cleaning the dishes and see him lie down on the couch, his boots still on and on the couch cushions as I turned the sink faucet to stop the flow of water as I went over to him and sat on top of him as his tired expression turned into one of love and joy. Sadly, it’s not love aimed at me, but soon, it just might be if it goes the way I hope it.
Mystique: Tough day at work Y/n?
Y/n: Tough day at work is a bit of an understatement.
Mystique: You have tomorrow off. Perhaps I could relieve you of that stress~?
Y/n: Well, first, I’m a bit hungry. Do you want to eat out? I’ll pay.
Mystique: Actually, I have something to tell you. It’s really important.
I got off him as he started sitting up and stayed a couch cushion’s distance away from him, but I looked into his (e/c) eyes, now gleaming with someone who deeply cares for my well being, sorry, his wife’s well-being.
Y/n: What’s wrong? Is everything okay? You can tell me, you know that, right?
Mystique: I do, but what I’m going to show you might make you hate me.
Y/n: If it’s a pregnancy test then that’s amazing!
Mystique: Just, be quiet okay?
He then nodded his head and then I let my disguise down to show him my blue figure and yellow eyes, plus my red hair as the clothes remained on my figure, as they were W/n’s clothes and surprisingly, they were my size.
Mystique: I’m a mutant named Mystique, but my real name is Raven Darkholme. Five years ago, I killed your wife and lived her life with you. If you hate me, then I understand. Just know that, during my third year disguising as her, I fell in love with you, but I had it in my mind that the love was for someone else. Someone that wasn’t me.
There was silence in between us and that worried me until I felt the weight of the couch shift closer to me and saw Y/n sandwiched my hands in between his and I looked up into his eyes, tears starting to fall down from mine as I expect a harsh rejection from him.
Y/n: Can I… can I ask you something Raven?
Raven: What is it?
Y/n: You said you killed my wife, correct? Where exactly did you see her?
Raven: Some hotel, I can’t remember the name, I’m sorry.
Y/n: That’s fine. Now, was she… expecting someone?
Raven: I think, but why would she—Oh, I’m sorry?
I really didn’t know if I should be apologizing. On one hand, I did confirm with him that she was cheating, but on the other hand, I killed someone.
Y/n: *chuckles* Don’t be sorry. I’m sort of glad you impersonated her, you… you made me feel wrong when I wanted to be. You restored faith in my marriage. I guess, when you made her look like nothing was wrong, I fell in love with you. But if that doesn’t convince you, then…
I then felt his hands being placed on my cheeks as I could feel them heat up in his hands as I felt something I haven’t exactly felt in a while, unconditional love. He doesn’t care that I’m a mutant, that I kill people, he just cares about me and in times like these, people like him are hard to come by.
Raven: Can we start slow? I want to make sure that this is the right kind of love.
Y/n: We can do whatever you want, but can I show you something? It’s a secret I kept away from my wife, but… I feel like I can trust you.
He then stands up and offers me a hand that I take as I follow him to a door that was right below the staircase leading to the second floor. Unlocking the door, I could hear the sound of nature coming from his basement, birds chirping and running water, as we descended down and I was greeted by artificial sunlight as nature seemed to bloom under this house and I never once heard anything. The center of all of this beautiful scenery was a fountain, the source of the running water I heard earlier.
Raven: What is all this for?
Y/n: The Fountain of Youth.
Raven: That’s actually a thing?
Y/n: My family has guarded this fountain for years, only showing to the ones we trust. *looks at Raven* And the ones we love.
Raven: *blushes* I’m… I’m honored to see this, actually.
Y/n: We’ll take this slow, at your request, and maybe, you and I will get married, have kids and live forever. That is, if you want to drink the fountain’s water.
I assume that I’d have to drink it on a regular basis, since I assume that the water Y/n had been drinking was coming from this source. Although, it wasn’t something that I’d have to make right now, but rather, in time, I’ll eventually come to drink from here.
Raven: I’ll think about it.
Y/n: Fair enough, now, how about dinner? I’m starving and I’d rather not kill one of these animals.
Raven: For curiosity’s sake, how old are you?
Y/n: I was actually a person who built Rome and watched Jesus of Nazareth die on the cross.
Raven: That… puts things into perspective.
Y/n: Yeah, I really don’t like to be reminded of how old I actually am.
Well, I guess I know where our unconditional love is modeled from.
Holy fuck were old
