As the season of Spring rolled it’s head around the corner, came time for one of Japan’s national pastimes: cherry tree watching. With the frigid winds of winter gone cane the nice cool breeze of spring and the sun once again showed itself, so that plant life nay grow again.

This was important to know because when you walked through those doors into Gekkoukan High, girls immediately swarmed you. You weren’t Akihiko popular, but enough to have your own cheer squad.

Y/n: Woah, woah, woah! One at a time please!

Fangirl #1: Y/n-senpai, are you free this Sunday?

Fangirl #2: Hey! I was going to ask him that!

Fangirl #1: You’re too slow!

Y/n: I don’t know. I’d have to check with someone first. Problem is, I won’t see them until either the end of the day or lunch break.

Fangirls: We’ll wait!

Y/n: *mumbling* Really hope you don’t…

~After School~

You had tried to reach her during the lunch break by going to her class, but you had just missed her by a second. Somewhat of a good thing because if you had stayed a second longer, then your personal cheer squad would’ve found you and hounded for you to go with them.

She was free, more appropriately, had barely anything to do after school so you decided to pay her a visit and go to the treasurer's office.

Y/n: *knocks on the open door and lightly whistles* Fushimi-san, you in here?

Chihiro: Yes, I’ll be right with--*notices it’s you* L/n-senpai!

Y/n: That is, in fact, my family name.

Chihiro: What are you doing here? Not that you aren’t allowed to be here, I just find it a bit strange.

Chihiro Fushimi, a year below Minato and the others and two years below you, Mitsuru, and Akihiko. She was Gekkoukan High's treasurer, a feat she should give herself a pat on the back for.

Back then, you two wouldn’t tall as openly due to her shyness and her attributed fear of men. However, there was an event that involved the two of you to grow close to one another.

Allegedly, there were rumors that she had stolen money from the treasury and was being accused of it by a teacher. You, however, stood up for her when she couldn’t.

~Flashback~

Y/n: Can’t believe a teacher would accuse a student of stealing money. If anything, I bet that teacher stole it.

Chihiro: Wh-why did you stand up for me?

Y/n: If you stole it, then I’m sure you would’ve stolen more. You have access to the money on a daily basis and how to obtain it. Besides, I’ve been accused of things I haven’t done by teachers as well.

Chihiro: You have?

Y/n: I still remember it too. Nationals for the track team, I made the ultimate comeback from dead last to first place during the relay race. Other teams and their coaches accused me of taking steroids.

Chihiro: Oh my goodness!

Y/n: They still don’t believe my drug test to this very day, so I have to do it before and after my races. I know how you feel and I’ll be the voice that you lack. I hope that you’ll pick it up from me when this thing is cleared up.

~Flashback~

Eventually, the entire thing would turn out to be an error on the teacher’s behalf, to which he apologized profusely and Chihiro had grown a backbone, making your work done and you returned to what you normally did.

Chihiro, however, couldn’t return to the life she once led because you had plagued her thoughts and invaded her dreams. Without you, she wouldn’t have gotten the confidence and open personality she has now. Quite frankly, she fell in love with you, but she knew graduation was drawing near, so she knew she had to make her feelings for you know before she wouldn’t be able to.

Y/n: You free this Sunday? As you’ve probably heard, the cherry trees are going to bloom. I was wondering if you wanted to see them and eat lunch, my treat.

Chihiro: *blushing* Uhhh…c-can I t-tell you t-t-tomorrow?

Y/n: Sure, take as long as you need, but not too long. I need an answer by Saturday.

Chihiro: O-okay!

Y/n: *waves goodbye* See you when I see you.

Saturday was her time limit. She had until Saturday to learn all she can about Y/n to make an impression on Y/n. Especially during one of the times where romance can bloom like the cherry blossoms. This was her mission.

~Tuesday~

Chihiro: Arisato-senpai.

Minato: Hmm? Oh, hi Fushimi-san. What do you want?

Chihiro: I heard that you live with L/n-senpai. Can you tell me what he likes and doesn’t like.

Minato: Even though he’s older than me, he doesn’t like when people use honorifics if they’re a school student when talking to him. It makes him feel too old. He likes eating snacks or anything not too complicated.

Chihiro: I see…thank you!

Minato: Anytime.

~Wednesday~

Chihiro: Shiomi-senpai.

Kotone: Hello Fushimi-san. I heard that Y/n asked you to watch the cherry blossoms with him.

Chihiro: He did, but I need to know what he likes and dislikes.

Kotone: I see what you’re planning. Don’t worry, this is just between us girls. He likes to eat at Wild duck burger. If you want to catch him Sunday, he’s usually hanging out by Tatsumi Port Station and looking at the flower shop or by the movie theater.

Chihiro: That helps me out a lot! Thank you!

Kotone: Welcome!

~Saturday~

Y/n: Fushimi-san, you in here?

Chihiro: Give me a second and I’ll be right with you Y/n. *places documents away and turns to you* It’s about that cherry blossoms thing right?

Y/n: Yeah.

Chihiro: Where are we going to watch?

Y/n: I’m stuck between two options. We could go to Ueno Park because of all of the cherry blossoms trees, but it would be crowded. Or we could go to Inokashira Park, not as populated, but not as many trees to see.

Chihiro: Let’s try going to Inokashira Park first.

Y/n: Alright, I’ll bring the food and mat. I’ll meet you at the front. Before I forget, let’s exchange contact info.

Chihiro was as giddy as a…well, a school girl. She had gotten her crush’s phone number and she didn’t even have to ask him for it! After the exchange in information, you sent her a text to test if it worked and after confirmation that she got it, left the school building and headed for the dorm.

~Sunday~

Taking a bus to Inokashira Park, you waited by the entrance to the park with a picnic basket and mat. It was almost noon, the perfect time for lunch and to watch the cherry blossoms. You were a bit worried that Chihiro was dressing up a bit too formally or getting cold feet last minute, so you pulled out your phone and decided to shoot her a text.

Y/n: Hey, where are you?

Chihiro: On a bus right now coming over right now.

Speaking of that bus, a bus stopped right in front of you and the door opened and people of various ages and sexes exited until halfway through the line of passengers that wanted to come to Inokashira Park to watch the cherry blossoms bloom was Chihiro Fushimi. What were you doing in preparation for this little get together?

~Flashback~

Shinjiro: Hell no, you know how to make sushi and sashimi.

Y/n: C'mon man! Help a brother out! You make them better than I do.

Shinjiro: I have better things to do than to help you with your date.

Y/n: Like what? Tell me what? What is so much better than making food? For a date no less?

Shinjiro: Not making it in general.

Y/n: If you don't do this for me, I'll grab Akihiko's protein and dump tubs worth into whatever you make from now until I die.

Shinjiro: You wouldn't dare.

Y/n: Bet asshole.

~Flashback over~

Technically, the sushi wasn't made by you, but she doesn't have to know that. Chihiro was wearing a nice summer casual outfit of a summer dress with a floral pattern and a hat that wouldn't allow the sun to get in her face and beat her down with the incessant heat. Truly, she was a beauty, like uncovering a flawless diamond in a dark mine. You dressed to compensate for the somewhat high temperatures that allowed the air to be a bit humid, which usually meant a white tank and shorts with slippers. You also had sunglasses on top of your head in case the sun got in your eyes. In short, what you wore to the beach before you changed to swim was your attire.

Y/n: You look nice Chihiro.

Chihiro: Th-thanks. You look good too, Y/n.

Y/n: Thank you. I already had a good view in mind, let's go before someone takes it.

Taking the initiative, you grabbed her hand gently like a mother would her child. To be honest, you liked Chihiro and wanted to take the next step, even though you and her barely hung out. Still, you devoted enough time to her early in the school year and she was always someone that you remembered in the school that wasn't a part of SEES, so she was a breath of fresh air that was greatly needed, a reminder that the world wasn't ending and your reason to fight until the bitter end.

Finding the spot that you had spotted near the entrance to Inokashira Park, you had laid out the blanket and sat down and placed the basket filled with sushi, sashimi, chopsticks, and other things you use to eat sushi and make it taste even better.

Y/n: Been a long time since I've ever done this with anyone.

Chihiro: What's in the basket?

Y/n: Sushi and sashimi. If you want some, go right ahead. I made the mistake of having a snack right before coming here.

Sitting up right, you opened up the picnic basket and pulled out bento boxes for you and her. Also, during preparation phase, when Shinjiro was finished making all of the sushi and sashimi, you were the one to make the presentation look very professionally done, almost as if you had gotten a professional chef with Michelin stars to their name and merit.

Chihiro: Wow! This looks really good!

Y/n: Thanks.

~One lunch break later~

As the sun was setting on your date, you knew that it was now or never. Before coming out to Inokashira Park, you triple checked that your collar button on your uniform was in your pocket. You had decided that Chihiro was going to be the one that you would share your feelings with and spend the rest of your life with after college and when you get a job. Before any of the buses arrived to pick either of you up, you waited at the entrance alongside her.

Chihiro: I had fun today Y/n.

Y/n: I did too, but I had another reason to call you here.

You then take out your collar button and flip it in the air like a person would with a coin and caught it in your hand and presented it to her, only to be met with a curious gaze.

Chihiro: I don't understand...

Y/n: In my old school in Okinawa, there was a tradition among the senior students where they removed the buttons off of their uniforms and gave them to their friends. The collar button, the only one that stood out from the rest, was to be given to the one they wanted to spend their life with and I'm giving you mine. To be blunt, would you go out with me?

Chihiro: *blushing* Y-you? *points at her* M-me? *pushes pointer fingers together* T-t-t-t-together?

Y/n: I can understand if you need time for this, I did just bring it up out of the blue.

Chihiro: N-no!

Y/n: No? Okay, worth a shot.

Chihiro: N-no! I mean yes!

Y/n: Woah, woah, woah. Is that a no or a yes?

Chihiro: *smiles* Yes, I'll go out with you.

Y/n: Really? That's so awesome!

The bus to the dorm was pulling up to the curb, meaning that it was time to go your separate ways. As a sign that you were serious about this relationship, you had given her a goodbye kiss on the cheek and hopped on the bus back to the dorm. The reason why it was so easy for you to ask her out was because you had watched a lot of romance movies and some chick flicks, the ones with the lovey-dovey romance in them.

~Bonus~

A couple years after you graduated, Chihiro had always become worried about you. You see, instead of being a teacher or going back into normalcy after SEES disbanded when the Dark Hour was gone, you and Aigis had figured that it wasn't that easy for something like that to be gone just like that without repercussions of some kind. Enter biochemical attacks and incidents.

One of the many repercussions of the Dark Hour being gone and the TV world being a thing, you and Aigis had underwent Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear training to undergo these new types of Shadows appearing and bleeding into the real world. This always put Chihiro on edge. Even though she didn't know jack about Shadows, she sure as hell knew about biochemical attacks or incidents like Chernobyl. She always had this lingering fear that your suit would be compromised and you'd be affected by something like VX gas or a chimera virus.

So, when she was touring the Yasogami high students around Gekkoukan, the new student council president wasn't exactly expecting a visit from someone like you when you tapped her shoulder.

Chihiro: Yes? *notices it’s you and hugs you* Y/n, I thought you were away!

Y/n: Decided I would take a leave of sorts. It’s nice seeing you again, almost feels nostalgic.

Chihiro: After I’m done, would you like to catch up?

Y/n: I’d like that very much. I’ll be waiting outside.

~Behind a wall~

Yosuke: *whispers* Man, she already has a boyfriend?

Kanji: *whispers* And from the sound of things, it seems this boyfriend of hers travels for a long time.

Yu: Hey, we’re moving on you two.

Yosuke/Kanji: Coming…
